FAQ

Over the course of our campaign we’ve had many questions posed to us about what we are doing as a group that is working to get the Advent Children/Compilation voice cast into the Final Fantasy VII Remake as DLC and now we have a page that answers all of those questions or concerns. Please take a look at them!

The Purpose of Operation Reunion’s Campaign

Our campaign purpose is to secure a Legacy Cast DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Remake that incorporates the Compilation (Legacy) voice actors in Final Fantasy 7 Remake alongside the Remake Cast. This is not to remove the Remake Cast but only add the option to also play the game with the Legacy Cast.  We have been campaigning since June E3 in 2019 at our inception for a dual audio option for Final Fantasy 7 Remake to include both the Remake Cast and the Legacy Cast in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

This would be a dual language cast option like what Square Enix provided in the Japanese version of Star Ocean First Departure R and what Konomi did with Silent Hill 2 HD Collections by allowing players to choose between the original and new voice cast in the English version. Read our article about this very concept here and watch our video.

The Advent Children cast can’t voice the characters according to Kitase

Kitase said Advent Children voice actors could not voice the characters because the events in FFVII were two years before Advent Children and it has been 15 years since the cast voiced Advent Children.

Here is where the statements proves illogical:

  1. The French, German, and Japanese casts for Final Fantasy 7 Remake all include Advent Children actors, so they actually CAN voice Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
  1. Square Enix invited back Japanese voice actors to voice in Star Ocean: First Departure R after taking a 23 year hiatus from voicing the characters and were still deemed acceptable to voice characters who ages were between 16-23, while the Legacy Cast has been continuously voicing these Final Fantasy 7 characters up until 2018 with the 2019 E3 being the time of replacement.
  1. He also seemed to forget that the cast already voiced the characters in a younger state as they voiced them in Crisis Core which is 5 years BEFORE Final Fantasy VII

Did the Legacy Cast even want to be in Final Fantasy 7 Remake?

Yes! Many of the actors were already signed on for the project as well! Remember, these actors were continuing to voice these characters even AFTER the initial trailer release in 2015.

Steve Burton and George Newbern voiced Cloud and Sephiroth in Dissidia NT and Mobius released in 2017 and 2018. Both have stated they were supposed to voice these characters in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

Throughout this campaign, we have contacted a majority of the Legacy Cast asking this very question and it’s been a resounding “yes” they wanted to be in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and they are more than willing to return to their characters in a Legacy Cast DLC for Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

For more information, please check our article here about the cast replacement.

Making this DLC would take away resources and time from Final Fantasy 7 Remake

We promote Square Enix to make the DLC whenever they would be able to, whether it’s per part or at the end of all the parts, we certainly wouldn’t want them to take time away from releasing new segments for FF7R.

This DLC is disrespectful to the new cast

It’s an optional DLC that will not remove the new cast at all. We appreciate the new cast and would never want to take away this opportunity, but the same opportunity should be extended to the original cast to not be disrespectful to them either.

Again, read our article here about Square Enix actually using two-language casts in the Japanese version of Star Ocean: First Departure R and it wasn’t deemed offensive or disrespectful to the Japanese voice actors as they were both used and included in the game.

If anything, including both casts is deemed highly respectable and honorable to all voice actors as stated by Square Enix since they did use this idea already.

Wouldn’t the cost of making this DLC be expensive?

Whatever expense that comes from creating and hosting this DLC is the very reason why we are more than eager and willing to buy the Legacy Cast DLC.

The original cast already began recording according to Max Dood and then that audio, voice actors time and salary, and audio engineering time and salary was paid and essentially wasted as it was scrapped when the Legacy Voice Cast was changed out with the Teen Wolf / CW cast. Read our article concerning the catchphrase “Superman is still voicing Sephiroth” here for more information about CW’s marketing campaign in Final Fantasy 7 Remake and check out our video “The CW Takeover: FF7R Edition” here

DLCs cost money to make and yet Square Enix among almost every gaming company continues to distribute DLC of every kind to enhance their game even if gamers do not purchase the DLC. It is never guaranteed that gamers will purchase DLC and that is a risk they take every time they release DLC. It’s there to increase potential profits and prolong playability to keep the gaming title current.

Square Enix even localized a Russian version of FFXV and made it completely free to download in attempts to increase profits. DLC is an attempt to increase profits and increase playability. Would the Legacy Cast DLC be an attempt to increase profits and playability: yes.

It is easy to forget that Square Enix is a $5.9 billion market cap company, it isn’t in our ability to determine if what is deemed expensive to a company is worth $5.9 billion.
